Hurricane Deductibles

I'm heartbroken today. My beautiful dream house was damaged in the storm and I don't know how we are going to fix her.       The last several weeks post-hurricane have been a stressful time of dealing with insurance, mortgage companies, and roofers. I'd hoped that it would all come to a bit of a conclusion and a path forward yesterday when the insurance adjuster came, but instead we are left with more questions.       Turns out, in this area, when we have a named storm something called a Hurricane Deductible kicks in. Instead of the regular deductible, a significantly higher deductible based on the value of the house is used.  For me that means that instead of $1000, I will have to pay $8400 to get my house fixed. I have no idea where that money is going to come from and I'm just heartbroken over it. I don't know when, how or if my house will ever be fixed.      If you know me, you know I've been through some significant trauma, but this may be the thing
